This spicy tuna is a versatile recipe that you can make into a meal, appetizer, or canapés. With just a few simple ingredients, you can prepare this recipe in 15 minutes- serve on its own, over rice, as part of a sushi roll, or with crackers as an appetizer.
Ingredients:
- 4 oz. sashimi-grade tuna (113 g.)
- 1 ½ tablespoons Sriracha (reduce the amount if you prefer less spicy)
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions (scallions)
- 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds (roasted/toasted)
Preparation:
Cut the green onions, keeping the white part and green part separated (the green part will be used for garnish and the white part will be mixed in with the tuna).
Make sauce for spicy tuna: Combine 1 ½ tablespoon Sriracha and ½ teaspoon sesame oil and mix well together.
Make spicy mayo: Combine 1 tablespoon Japanese mayo and 1 teaspoon Sriracha and mix well.
Cut the tuna into small cubes, about ¼ inch pieces. Mix the tuna with the sauce and add the white part of the green onion.
Transfer the spicy tuna to a serving bowl and garnish with sesame seeds and the green part of the green onion.
Serve spicy tuna over rice, inside sushi rolls, or with crackers. Serve topped with a drizzle of spicy mayo.
